FREE Special Coaches Clinic: Youth Fitness & Sports Training 101

This special workshop is specifically designed with the youth between the ages of 8-15 years and young adult athlete in mind.  You will learn the basics on how to fully strengthen and prepare your athletes for the unique needs and physical demands of fitness & sports training for their developing bodies.

At this FREE workshop you will learn WHY:

  • Traditional training alone is not enough for maximum results.
  • Movement and Core training is critical for youth athletes.
  • Youths have to develop ‘smart’ muscle, not just strong muscles to win.
  • Using scaled-down versions of adult training programs for youth athletes is the biggest mistake you can ever make – they will play worse and get injured faster!
  • You need to take time to develop ‘teamwork’ within the body for maximum performance and continued progress for the youth athlete.

Fernando is named one of ‘America’s Premier Experts’!

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

FP Orange Picture - for newsletterI have been officially named as one of ‘America’s Premier Experts’ in my field!

To say that I am very honored and excited about this, is an extreme understatement.

Unreal.

What a way to begin 2010!

Here’s part of the headline on the Press Release that was sent yesterday:

“Fernando Paredes, Bucks County, Pennsylvania-based fitness and performance coach, has recently been named as one of America’s PremierExperts® in recognition of his leading role in the fitness industry.”

You can view the official release by clicking here => http://www.pitchengine.com/free-release.php?id=39197

Let me tell you, this really means a lot to me.

And as I reflect on all the years that led up to this point…I just have to give a BIG Thank You to my family, friends, my mentors, the amazing clients I have the privilege to work with; and EVERYONE that has either helped me, supported me, encouraged me, picked me up, loved me…hated me, laughed at me, knocked me down, insulted me, called me crazy for wanting to be in this field.

You’ve ALL made THIS possible.

Who would have thought that the fat, un-athletic kid, with a busted low-back from New Jersey would one day become one of ‘America’s Premier Experts’ in fitness and performance training?

Not me.

OLD-School methods = NEW found RESULTS!

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

I know…you think that ALL the modern stuff  HAS to be better at creating the healthy and fit body you want because there are, well….modern.
FP Orange Picture - for newsletter
And ‘modern’ automatically means ‘better’, right?

That mentality couldn’t be more WRONG when it comes to the TYPE of training that the human body responds best to.

Which is why MANY of the OLD systems, tools and methods still work better than any so-called “new” machine-based methods being touted today.

And in THIS situation, tools like the ROPE fit in VERY nicely…and they ALWAYS will.

Training on the ROPE is a phenomenal way of working your strength, cardio, core, torso, arms all at the SAME TIME.

The body LOVES it when you’multi-challenge’ it in this way and WILL respond by delivering the results YOU want in a much BETTER and FASTER way.

Here are some pictures I took yesterday during a training session with one of my clients, Mike, as he’s preparing to start his series of movement patterns using the ROPE.

Allright, Mike – on your mark…get set….->

GO!
And go as FAST as you can!

Here’s Mike starting his ROPE cycle with and alternating up-down pattern…

Here’s a side view of Mike doing the same alternating up-down pattern.  Cool, huh?

Now Mike is moving into the ‘outside-cirlce’ pattern…

Mike was really MOVING hard and fast through those exercises to MAXIMIZE his benefits. That’s how it works with the ROPE….the faster – the better!

So if your workouts and body have gotten stale, nothing seems to be working anymore and you don’t know why….give us a call.

Maybe your body just needs to be re-introduced to some “old” friends.

Fernando’s Log: Week One at the PhillyFIT Youth Football Camp

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Week One:

Had a great time yesterday presenting at the PhillyFIT Youth Football Camp that is being led by past Temple University Footbal star and Dallas Cowboy – Lloyd Yancey.

I was very excited to help in anyway that I could.  And one of the the BEST ways to EDUCATE the kids on proper Core training for their growing bodies AND doing a basic structural body diagnostic screening.

This kind of screen can detect any muscle imbalances that may be brewing within thier developing bodies that could not only be preventing them from attaining peak performance but more importantly, increase their risk for injury….and we don’t want that!

Detecting these ”weak” spots at an early age is KEY in PREVENTING any major issues from developing when they get older.

I wish someone would have done that for ME when I was growing up.

Maybe I wouldn’t have destoryed MY lower-back at age 17!

Oh well…at least I was able to help THESE kids and hopefully prevent THEM form developing any problems…which made me feel VERY GOOD about the whole thing.

AND the fact that the kids were very receptive made it even better.

Looking forward to NEXT week’s Camp!  And l hope to post some pictures and video too.

Stay tuned…

Fernando at the PhillyFIT Football Camp!

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

I am very excited to have been chosen as the sports performance trainer assisting in PhillyFIT Magazine’s first ever “Youth Football Camp” during the last 2 weeks in July 2009.

The Camp will be for youth athletes between the ages of 9-13 years and is headed up by past Temple University football star, NFL player and Dallas Cowboy – Lloyd Yancey.

Being hand-picked by Lloyd to be on the team he’s putting together to teach kids how to train the RIGHT WAY, meant a great deal to me and I am really looking forward to being a part of it.

Thanks Lloyd!

New Milestone…our FIRST College Intern!

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

We have reached another milestone here at Fusion, our FIRST college intern!

Andrew Feher is a Sport & Exercise Science major in his junior year at DeSales University, a baseball player, a past client of mine and will be spending the Summer of 2009 with us here at Fusion.

FP & Andrew Feher 1

When I asked Andrew WHY he chose to intern with me, this is what he told me:

“Everyone else out there is still doing all the same old stuff.  Your approach to training is very cutting-edge and is the way of the future,  which is why I wanted to get a head-start on my peers in learning more about it and getting more hands-on experience.”

Thanks Andrew…that’s one of the best compliments I’ve ever had!

A Success Story

That’s what Michele S., said to me yesterday as she blasted through the ’lunge and stretch’ exercise during her training session here at the studio!

(Yes.  I’m using her last initial for a reason….I have a couple of ‘Michele’s as clients: Michele S. and Michele B….I’ll tell you more about ‘B’ on another post)

But she loves it!

Michele has been working with me for a while and is one of my most-intense, hardest-working clients.

She’s looks all sweet and lady-like on the outside…but when she gets into the studio, she’s a workout ‘fiend’!

Michele moves through her workout with a vengance, giving 100% all the time….she’s GREAT!

And she’s made SO much progress!

Michele has:
Increased her strength…
Sculpted up her muscles…
Reduced her waist-line…
And has dramatically improved her tennis game!
(Michele takes her tennis very seriously…)

Michele also LOVES to give me a hard time and throw in some ‘good-natured’ complaining during her sessions.

She says things like:
Take it easy on me Mister!…
What did I ever do to you?…
You’re SO mean to me!…
You’re bringing me to tears!…(today’s post)
Hey!…does anybody care that he’s KILLING me over here?!…

etc, etc.. you get the point, right?

You killed my abs!

Last session, she was telling me about how SORE her abs were from the ab routine we did on our last workout.

“I loved it!”  She exclaimed.  “We barely did anything though.  How do I get so sore from these ‘little’ exercises you come up with?  They all look SO simple, but boy do they WORK!  I can’t believe I’m getting MORE results with LESS exercise!”

You see, Michele fell into a trap that many high-energy people fall into….thinking that more is better.   They grind out the workouts and see results…for a while at least.

That is, until the body REBELS:
You get injured…
The body just stops responding like it used to…
Nothing seems to work anymore…
Everything starts to hurt…
The results just – STOP – coming!

Ouch…my calf!

For Michele, it was injury.  One day she injured her calf muscle.  REAL bad too.  And she was laid up for MONTHS.

That was it.  She’d had enough!  Tired of spinning her wheels….Michele decided to finally give me a call.  The rest is history.

Wish I would’ve called sooner!…I love it here!

That’s exactly what Michele told me one day.  You see, Michele had THOUGHT about calling me for a while.  But, just never got around to it.

That is, until her ‘calf’ muscle MADE her pick up the phone and give me a call!

Now…
which part of your body…
is going to make YOU pick up the phone?
