Find answers to general questions about Fusion and it's methods. If you cannot find an answer here, please contact Fusion.

Q. What are the differences between FUSION’s exercise program vs. others?

A. The programs that the fitness industry creates:

• Are generalized one-size-fits-all programs designed for the masses, not you.
• Do not educate you in the basic, proven exercise strategies that lead to success.
• Have diverted from the more complete, Functional method of exercise.

FUSION……

1. Customizes your program around your individual body structure, needs and goals.
2. Educates you on how the body actually works.
3. Teaches Integrated Functional exercise.
4. Gives you the success strategies needed to achieve results.

Q. Can you expand on the differences between Functional vs. Traditional exercise?

A. Functional exercise trains MOVEMENTS instead of training individual muscle groups. The movements COMBINE multiple body parts into one total-body exercise performed from a standing position. They end up working your strength, cardio, flexibility, core fitness, balance and coordination all at one time.

The best way I can find to describe it is: take the flexibility benefits of yoga, the core strengthening of pilates and the muscle strengthening of weight training, mix them all up in a bowl……and there you have functional exercise! That’s a winning combination for any fitness enthusiast or athlete.

The traditional exercise approach divides the body into parts. You perform separate exercises for each body part (chest, back, arms, etc.) on a bench or in a machine. This type of training is great for targeting specific areas but does little else for the rest of your body. Overly relying on this type of training will lead to over-use patterns that stress the joints and create muscle imbalances.

Functional exercise is balanced, helps to improve all aspects of fitness and also helps to strengthen the joints! It works! And it works fast!

Examples of functional exercises would be a:

Squat with a pull, press or curl.
Lunge with a curl, press, push or pull.
Side Lunge with a downward or upward rotational reach.

Don’t let these fool you. Most functional exercises look simple and easy. They are deceivingly tough. (just talk to any of my clients!) and the results they produce are great.

Don’t get me wrong. Traditional, target-specific exercises have their place and I use them as the need arises ONLY after laying the proper functional exercise foundation first.

Q. What exactly is your exercise system about? What does “fusion” stand for?

A. A LOT! Let’s start with the definition….

Fusion (fyoo-zhen) a merging of diverse elements into a unified whole.

My personal fitness philosophy is that exercise should be enhancing to your body and life. The human body is a combination of many systems working as “a unified whole” designed to excel through dynamic movement and a balanced interaction of all systems. Each body system must be integrated and challenged, while maintaining balance, in order to thrive and achieve its full potential.

[Wow! I almost put you to sleep with that one didn’t I? Too technical huh? Listen, it’s real simple folks. What I’m trying to get across to you is that in order to succeed with ANY fitness goal, you need to challenge EVERY body system. Sometimes separately and other times all together.]

It is this philosophy, my years of experience and my own personal fitness struggles that have led me to develop the approach and workout style I now use – a uniquely “fused” approach of functional exercise. An approach that is not fixed or tied down to one single method. But one that can grow and adapt as science continues to advance.

My approach:

Multi-dimensional, integrated and adaptable.

My system “fuses”:

Diverse methods – old, new, functional or traditional that have proved successful and that are in-line how the body functions.

My program “fuses”:

Strength
Movement
Stability
Cardio
Balance/Coordination
Agility
Core
Speed/Quickness
Flexibility

The workout: Dynamic and challenging to all body systems.

Revolves around you: Can be adapted based on your goals and further customized based on your specific body structure and response to exercise.

That is what makes this approach so different. And why I cater to more than one type of client. Every aspect can be modified given the vast “toolbox” of methods it affords me.

I can custom-create the best possible fit of the program, for each individual, regardless of their current needs, goals, fitness or experience level thus maximizing their results.

Q. Can you give me a specific diet to follow?

A. Unfortunately not. Since I am not a registered dietician, I cannot give you a specific plan to follow. What I CAN do is educate you in proper eating practices and give you the proven nutritional strategies needed to achieve your fitness goals.

Keep in mind, it is not a specific food plan that will lead to your success. It is the choices, amounts, ratios and timing of the foods you eat….in other words, the strategies you utilize that will lead to your goal. THAT is what I can teach you.

Q. Who is your typical FUSION FITNESS STUDIO client?

A. Good question! You see, my approach does NOT appeal to everyone. Most people want quick-fix “miracles”. I promote education and reality-based results. Don’t get me wrong though, for some of my clients, their results have been nothing short of being “miraculous!”

However, I typically appeal ONLY to those that understand these three things:

1. That changing the body requires time and effort.
2. To maximize that time, individualized instruction is needed.
3. Experienced guidance maximizes results and minimizes any wasted effort.

AND typically fit into the following categories:

• Those with Structural issues (low back, knees, shoulders, etc.)
• Those stuck in a plateau.
• Rank Beginners looking to get started the right way.
• Seasoned Fitness trainees looking for new ways to challenge themselves.

Now, even though I specialize in weight loss and fitness for: busy professionals, those suffering from musculoskeletal issues, beginners and golfers, I have also helped many others such as:

New moms wanting to get their shape back after having a baby.

New brides wanting to get in shape and look great for their wedding day.

Those on the weight loss roller coaster that want to learn how to lose fat permanently.

Seniors wanting to increase their strength, energy and be more functional.

High school and college athletes wanting to take their performance to the next level.

Post-rehab patients wanting to maximize their recovery and increase function.

Bodybuilders wanting to build muscle and get stronger.

Q. What kind of results can I expect to see?

A. During the first 2 weeks you may experience what I call “progress pains”. More than likely we will first have to re-balance and re-align your body by activating and stretching some muscles that haven’t been in use for a while. As they move and tug on your joints, you will feel some areas like your neck, upper back and hips feel very weak or fatigued. This is normal. It’s like a total-body prep-phase.

Cosmetic changes vary. Some start to see visible changes within a couple of months or so. Things like your clothes fitting looser, your posture and mobility improving along with a general feeling of increased energy and strength.

To be honest with you, it really doesn’t matter. The issue here is not to see how fast you can change your body, but rather how permanent will that change be.

Huh? Let me explain. Let’s say your goal is to lose 20 lbs of fat, does it matter if it takes 2 months, 6 months or 1 year to achieve that goal, as long as the fat loss is permanent and never comes back?

Obviously, we all want to see changes quickly and consistently. That is EXACTLY what I am in the business of delivering. However, the fact is that your body will only change as quickly as your individual physiology and genetic make-up will allow for.

Don’t want to hear that? Sorry my friend. It’s the truth. I will not lie to you and promise you that you will lose 30 lbs in 30 days….build 30 lbs of muscle….or even transform you into the ultimate athlete “in 4 easy lessons” using my system.

A little something called INTEGRITY prevents me from doing that

The body does NOT work that fast anyway. And whenever you try to make the body change faster than it is realistically able to, you run into problems. Very BIG problems.

Do you want more problems or more results?

It’s your choice. If you choose to risk it, try anything ELSE out there. What I have to offer is NOT for you. If you want to do it the right way, contact me today. I will give you ALL the instruction, guidance, advice, tips, support and motivation you will need to succeed.

By working with me, you will achieve your results as fast as YOUR body will allow for, along with learning the strategies you will need to ensure the PERMANENCY of those changes.

Now isn’t THAT what you really want?

PLEASE Call Before You Stop In: While I do enjoy having visitors, I do prefer a call or an e-mail to set up a consultation appointment or if you just want to come in and check the studio out.

Here’s why: Most times I am working with a client and when someone walks in wanting to speak with me, it makes it very difficult to pull away.
